INSA Looks To Develop Marine Tourism In Indonesia

In a recent article published by InfoPublik, Dian Thenniarti, says that Budi Karya Sumadi, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub), supports efforts made by shipping business actors to participate in developing the potential of marine tourism in Indonesia. Among them is through the development of yachts and cruise ships carried out by the Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA.)

“Starting the recovery of the tourism sector after the pandemic is a good moment to introduce sea transportation such as yachts and cruise ships, which can support the progress of marine tourism in Indonesia,” said the Minister of Transportation as quoted by InfoPublik on Sunday (9/10/2022.)

The Minister of Transportation appreciated the initiative from INSA as an association that accommodates shipping business players who have made efforts to develop marine tourism in Indonesia. Moreover, the government is currently developing a number of tourist destinations in several areas that have the potential to develop marine tourism, including: Lake Toba, Likupang, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Bali.

“The ecosystem of yachts and cruise ships must be studied in depth with the opportunities and challenges with shipping business actors, to find out which approach can be developed the fastest. We, the government, will support it by providing ease of regulation for investment,” he said.

Regarding regulatory support, the Ministry of Transportation has issued Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 4 of 2022 concerning Foreign Tourism Ships (Yachts) and Foreign Cruise Ships (Cruise Ships) in Indonesian Waters. By opening as many as 28-ports of embarkation and debarkation of foreign cruise ships (yachts), and as many as 10-ports of embarkation and debarkation of foreign cruise ships (cruise ships).

The INSA Yacht Festival (IYF) 2022 is the result of a collaboration between the INSA DPP and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), which is part of the B20 side event that culminates in November.

This activity is an event to promote the marine tourism industry in Indonesia and introduce yachts that can be used by tourists to enjoy the beauty of the sea in a number of marine tourism destinations in Indonesia.
