According to a report in Kompas, the longest glass bridge in Southeast Asia, the Bali Glass Bridge, was inaugurated on November 11, 2022. This bridge connects Banjar, Tegenungan, Sukawati and Banjar Belangsinga in Blahbatuh, Gianyar, Bali.
For its design, the Bali Glass Bridge is 188-meters long, 2.2-meters wide and stretches over a height of 66-meters. As quoted from TribunBali, this glass bridge is equipped with handles on the left and right sides as high as 1.5-meters which also serves to increase the comfort of visitors. As for the thickness, this bridge has 3-layers of glass with a thickness of 10-centimeters each.
In terms of security, Bali Glass Bridge owner Dewa Sukrawan claims the bridge has been designed to be strong enough to accommodate 500-people of all ages at a time.
Before being inaugurated, there were a series of tests that were tested on this glass bridge, starting from being passed by vehicles to testing its durability using large volumes of water.
Meanwhile, to ensure the safety of visitors, the bridge will also be temporarily closed in case of rain or strong winds. However, to better maintain the condition of the bridge, visitors are required to wear special footwear that has been provided by the manager. Visitors are also allowed to sit and relax in the middle of the bridge as long as they don’t disturb other visitors.
Visitors can enjoy this unique facility at a tentative rate ranging from IDR 100,000 to IDR 200,000. “There is a waiting system later (to enter the bridge), after the road there is wave 1 and so on,” said Dewa Sukrawan.
