The Klungkung Regency Government is taking steps to modernize its tourist fee collection system for Nusa Penida by implementing an e-ticketing system.
This initiative aims to enhance efficiency and potentially lead to an adjustment in the targeted levy amount. The current manual system has raised concerns about potential leakages, prompting this shift towards a more secure and transparent approach.
“The e-ticketing system offers a robust solution to address potential leakages and maximize revenue collection for Nusa Penida,” stated I Nengah Ary Priadnya, Chair of Commission III Klungkung Regional House of Representatives. He anticipates that the improved system could pave the way for adjusting levy targets upwards.
“Electronic monitoring allows for easier tracking and data analysis. This transparency could justify setting a higher target for Nusa Penida tourism levies,” Ary Priadnya further explained.
However, Priadnya emphasizes that technological advancements should not overshadow the importance of service quality.
“While the e-ticketing system is a welcome step forward, it’s crucial to remember that overall service quality across destinations in Nusa Penida remains paramount. This includes ensuring friendly and helpful staff presence, alongside prioritizing tourist safety,” he said.
Data obtained from the Tourism Office reveals that the target income for Nusa Penida tourism levies in 2024 is set at IDR 24.8 billion. This represents an increase from the IDR 17.7 billion collected in 2023.
