The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism continues to promote the “Proud to Travel in Indonesia” campaign to increase the number of tourist visits, both domestic and foreign.
The Ministry of Tourism has a number of targets to be achieved by 2025. The target includes 1.08 billion movements of domestic tourists and 17 to 18 million foreign tourists.
The tourism sector is expected to contribute to GDP by 4.6 percent and generate foreign exchange of around 22.1 to 25.2 billion US dollars.
To achieve this, the Ministry of Tourism encourages local governments and the industrial sector to continue to innovate in creating attractive tour packages, not only during the holiday season, but also in the low season.
Digitalization and Local Innovation Increase Tourism Attraction
In addition, the Ministry of Tourism also developed Tourism 5.0 with the use of AI technology to strengthen Indonesia’s websites.
This website is not only a means of promotion, but it is also expected to convert visitors into tourists who choose tour packages in collaboration with the industry.
Deputy for Tourism Products and Activity Organizers, Vinsensius Jemadu, added that the Ministry of Tourism will focus on organizing activities that highlight local potential and strengthen collaboration between various parties.
The activities held are also expected to empower the community and preserve the environment. In addition, the Ministry of Tourism supports Indonesia’s efforts to win the bidding of international MICE events and accelerate the digitization of licensing for global activities.
AntaraNews reports, in 2025, the Ministry of Tourism targets the arrival of 17 to 18 million foreign tourists, and they are optimistic that they can achieve it.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, said that this success requires cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism, local governments, industry, and other stakeholders.
Digitalization is one of the main strategies to attract more tourists. One of them is by promoting information about Reog Ponorogo which has just been recognized as UNESO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
By utilizing digital platforms, the Ministry of Tourism hopes to reach more global people who are then interested in visiting Indonesia.
Collaboration to Encourage Tourists in the Low Season
In achieving this target, the Ministry of Tourism will continue to encourage tourism promotion, improve infrastructure, attract tourists during the low season, and improve connectivity.
According to Kompas.com, currently there are around 968 million people who are looking for information about Indonesia online. This is considered an opportunity to attract foreign tourists to come to Indonesia.
“Therefore, it is necessary to have valid, interesting, available information, events, good destinations, clean places, so the entire ecosystem. So next year this is really solid, we provide quality, experience,” said Made
So, he added, with the improvement of these various aspects, it will not only increase foreign tourist visits, but also extend the length of stay in Indonesia. As a result, said Made, this will have a good impact on Indonesia’s foreign exchange.
