Bali remains a top destination during the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year holidays. This tourist enthusiasm has had a positive impact on the tourism industry in Bali, with an increase in visits that benefit various sectors, from hotels to souvenir shops.
According to Radarbanyuwangi, It is estimated that around 647,256 people will cross the Ketapang-Gilimanuk Port during the long Christmas and New Year holidays, which will record an increase of around 18 percent compared to 2023.
At the moment of Christmas and New Year, this time Bali’s inflows during the Christmas and New Year holidays will occur in two peak waves of Balinese inflows.
The first peak of inflows, during the Christmas holidays, occurred on December 23. It is predicted that this first wave will be around 8,211 units of vehicles entering Bali.
Then the second wave is on the New Year holidays starting December 28, 29 and 30. The highest peak on December 29 is predicted to be 10,426 units.
Then the return flow after the Christmas and New Year holidays occurred simultaneously on January 1.
Aware of congestion in Bali
On the other hand, the magnitude of this interest has an unpleasant side effect. At this moment of long holidays, tourists need to pay attention to congestion-prone points.
The Bali Regional Police also appealed to tourists visiting Bali during the Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays to avoid traffic jam-prone routes.
Medcom.id reports, “Tourists should avoid roads prone to traffic jams by using applications such as Google Maps and the like before traveling to certain locations to ensure the traffic flow situation that will be passed smoothly,” said Head of Public Relations of the Bali Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Jansen Avitus Panjaitan.
Jansen said it was estimated that nearly 2.8 million tourists, both local and foreign, would be on vacation in Bali during Christmas and New Year. This will also affect the extraordinary movement of transportation from one place to another.
According to him, the movement of transportation will definitely cause disruption to the community, especially traffic congestion in several areas. Then where are the congestion points that tourists should be aware of?

Avoid disaster-prone locations due to extreme weather
In addition, the Bali Police reminded tourists to avoid going to disaster-prone locations.
The reason is, Bali in recent weeks has experienced very extreme weather, prolonged rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning, natural disasters in several locations such as floods, landslides, and fallen trees.
“Tourists who will be on vacation to Bali should avoid traveling to disaster-prone locations, such as mountains, rivers and locations with lush trees, to anticipate things that we don’t want,” said Jansen.
