The Financial Services Authority (OJK) of Bali Province continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to enhancing financial literacy and inclusion among the public.
In celebration of Easter, OJK Bali, in collaboration with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bali Province, held a financial education session for Christian congregations in Denpasar City on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The event took place at the OJK Bali office.
Carrying the theme “Blessing and Responsibility: Managing Finances Wisely,” the program aimed to equip participants with knowledge on sound financial management and to raise awareness about the increasing prevalence of digital financial crimes.
In his opening remarks, Ananda R. Mooy, Director of Financial Services Institution Supervision at OJK Bali, emphasized the importance of using the Easter moment as a time for renewal in both spiritual and practical aspects of life, particularly in managing personal and family finances.
“Through the celebration of Easter, we hope the spirit of resurrection extends beyond the spiritual realm and inspires change in other aspects of life, including financial management. Wisely managing our finances is a form of responsibility for the blessings God has given,” said Ananda, quoting from Bali Portal News.
He further noted that financial literacy plays a crucial role in protecting the public from falling prey to illegal investment offers, unlicensed online lending, and various forms of digital financial crimes.
Financial Literacy Index
According to the 2024 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion, the national financial literacy index stands at 65.43%, while the financial inclusion index is 75.02%. This gap highlights the urgent need for more equitable financial education across all segments of society.
Eva Florida Simanjuntak welcomed the collaboration between OJK and the Ministry of Religious Affairs as an important step in fostering public understanding of family financial management. She expressed hope that the knowledge gained would be shared with other church members.
According to Bali Tribune, “This educational initiative marks the beginning of a meaningful partnership. With the Easter theme ‘The Peace of Christ in the Heart of the Family’, we hope Christian families in Bali will grow in financial wisdom and responsibility,” said Eva.
As one of the speakers, I Made Martadi Putra presented various digital financial fraud schemes, including scams, phishing, social engineering, sniffing, money mule operations, video call extortion, fake prize scams, and even the use of artificial intelligence in money transfer fraud.
He advised the public to be more cautious with personal data on social media, avoid clicking suspicious links, change passwords regularly, and back up personal data consistently as preventive measures.
Previously, OJK Bali had organized a financial literacy event themed on Islamic finance during the Eid al-Fitr celebration and plans to continue similar initiatives for the Hindu community during the upcoming Galungan and Kuningan celebrations on April 30, 2025.
Through interfaith and community-based financial education, OJK Bali aspires to foster an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable financial services ecosystem.
With greater financial literacy and inclusion, the people of Bali are expected to become more adept at managing their finances and better protected from harmful financial risks.
