The torch relay for the 16th Bali Provincial Sports Week 2025 has arrived in Denpasar City after a 2-day journey around Bali on September 7–8, 2025.

The torch will be temporarily placed at the Bali office of National Sports Committee of Indonesia before the official opening ceremony scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, September 9, 2025.

Chairman of National Sports Committee of Indonesia in Bali, I Gusti Ngurah Oka Darmawan, explained that the relay started from Pura Pasar Agung on Mount Batur, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency, on Sunday (September 7, 2025).

The torch passed through Gianyar, Klungkung, Karangasem, stayed overnight in Buleleng, and continued the next day to Jembrana, Tabanan, Badung, before finishing in Denpasar.

“The torch is now resting at KONI Bali and tomorrow the opening ceremony will be held at Ngurah Rai Stadium in the afternoon,” said Oka Darmawan as quoted from Detik.

He added that the relay is aimed at igniting the spirit of the 16th Bali Provincial Sports Week while also uniting the people of Bali through sports.

“This is for the advancement of sports in Bali,” he emphasized.

Although the official opening has yet to take place, some sports have already begun their competitions  with a few having concluded.

“I keep reminding the athletes to show their best performance while upholding sportsmanship in order to become true champions,” Oka Darmawan added.

Supporting Local Athletes

Meanwhile, a spirited and festive atmosphere filled the Jembrana Regent’s Office on Monday (September 8, 2025), as the torch was officially handed over to Jembrana Regent, I Made Kembang Hartawan.

This symbolic handover marked part of the lead-up to 2025 Bali Provincial Sports Week, set to take place in Badung Regency and Denpasar City from September 9 to 17, 2025.

Regent Kembang expressed his gratitude and pride for the trust given to Jembrana as one of the host regions for the sport event.

According to RRI.co.id, “This torch is more than just a flame; it symbolizes the spirit of our athletes to fight, achieve, and uphold sportsmanship. We hope this Porprov will be a success and become a platform to discover new athletic talents,”said Regent Kembang.

He also called on all residents of Jembrana to take part in supporting the event and their local athletes. Beyond the competitions, he hopes Porprov will bring economic benefits to the region and instill pride among the people of Bali.

“We hope Porprov not only succeeds in its execution but also helps boost the local economy and brings pride to the people of Bali,” he added.

After the handover ceremony in Jembrana, the torch will continue its journey to Tabanan Regency to spread the message of sportsmanship and enthusiasm for sports throughout the island.
