Denpasar — The Head of Bali’s Tourism Office, I Wayan Sumarajaya, has issued an advisory letter to all tourism association in Bali. This follows warnings from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency about potential extreme weather in the coming week, including heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.
The conditions are influenced by Tropical Cyclone Fung-Wong in the eastern Philippine Sea, as well as the Madden-Julian Oscillation, Kelvin atmospheric waves, and the Equatorial Rossby wave.
Quoting DetikBali, the Tourism Office also sent official letters to the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association, the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association, the Bali Villa Association (BVA), the Bali Hotel Association (BHA), and other tourism businesses.
“We ask all tourism association to advise their members to prepare and optimize all available resources,” Sumarajaya said in a written statement on Thursday (November 13, 2025).
Sumarajaya also urged all tourism associations to prioritize the safety, comfort, and security of visitors in Bali. He also called on businesses to implement disaster mitigation measures.
This includes properly following standard operating procedures to prevent or minimize unwanted incidents. Travel agencies and accommodation providers are advised to give tourists complete information about weather conditions during the rainy season.
“They should also inform visitors about what to do when traveling in Bali during the rainy season, and regularly monitor Climatology Agency’s weather forecasts,” he added.
Meanwhile, managers of tourist attractions and village tourism sites are encouraged to manage trees in their surroundings to prevent them from falling or breaking due to heavy rain.
“Also, clean all drainage channels to prevent flooding, and install information media in tourist areas,” said Sumarajaya.
He further advised operators of outdoor tourism activities — such as rafting, hiking, diving, snorkeling, paragliding, and others — to routinely monitor Climatology Agency forecasts and inform tourists about the best times to carry out these activities.
“We also urge continuous dissemination of do’s and don’ts to foreign tourists,” he said.
