Bali Regional Police and Badung Police are intensifying the use of the Cakrawasi application to record every foreign national who comes to Bali.
Badung Police Chief, Police Adjunct Chief Commissioner Joseph Edward Purba stated that the Cakrawasi application is managed centrally by Bali Regional Police.
In addition, this application also serves as a preventive measure to curb criminal acts and disorderly behavior by foreigners in Bali. Since 2025, many foreigners have been involved in various crimes, ranging from robbery, murder, narcotics, to assault.
Badung Police has socialized the use of the Cakrawasi application to a number of hotel entrepreneurs and other lodging businesses in Badung Regency.
“This data collection is an obligation for lodging business operators as a form of support for police efforts in maintaining security and public order in Badung. This is also carried out as an anticipatory step, considering that several recent public order disturbances have involved foreign nationals,” said Commissioner Joseph Edward Purba.
Not Monitoring Activities
Since its operation in December 2025, the application has successfully recorded thousands of foreigners in Badung Regency.
Regarding concerns about privacy violations, Joseph Edward Purba emphasized that so far there have been no issues. Data collection is carried out based on mutual agreement with business operators and is supported by legal regulations.
In principle, the data collection is limited to personal identity, length of stay, and occupation, but does not monitor personal activities in detail.
“So far there have been no (privacy violations) because we have also reached a mutual agreement with business operators, and it is supported by Polda,” Edward Purba added. “We only receive the relevant data, upload it, and can find out how long the person stays or resides in a certain area. As for specifically monitoring the activities of foreigners during their holidays, no,” he continued.
