According to Tempo, Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno has said Indonesia’s rank in the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) has climbed 12-points from 44 to 32 from a total of 112-countries in the index.
Sandiaga said that in the Asia Pacific, Indonesia’s domestic tourism sector is among the top 10, and currently ranks in 8th position. He said this shows how Indonesia’s tourism has managed to rise using an effective and efficient budget. Sandiaga also said that he had reported the achievement to President Joko Widodo.
Looking ahead, Sandiaga said his ministry will continue to improve the performances of the tourism and creative economy sectors by studying or evaluating the indicators that trigger economic revival in the tourism sector. “There are 112 indicators and we will also involve other ministries/agencies related to updating the data,” he said.
