According to reporting from Antara News, Indonesia’s Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin has said that the NgoerahSun Wellness and Aesthetic Center at Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar aims to transform the tourism industry in Bali from nature- and culture-based to medical-based.
“We want a tourism transformation in Bali, so Bali remains resilient. The local people should not depend on the tourism industry,” he added in Denpasar on Thursday (3/10/24.)
According to the minister, the construction of the five-story building is intended to transform tourism in Bali, which has so far relied on conventional tourism, to create a new industry from the health sector.
He noted that tourists aim to enjoy life in Bali. Therefore, health services in Bali need improvement, in keeping with the rising number of tourist visits to Bali, says Antara News.
“Bali should not take the curative health industry and choose a wellness health industry instead. It is a combination of beauty and aesthetics. Therefore, we build the wellness and aesthetic center,” Sadikin explained, adding that the Balinese people have the necessary qualities to serve tourists in the health sector and are adaptive to foreigners.
Therefore, he agreed to make the wellness and aesthetic center at the hospital a pilot project for international standard health services.
“Bali is not a destination of people to die. It is a destination for people to live, to enjoy life, and to heal,” the minister said.
Sadikin further said that the wellness and aesthetic center has been built to accommodate increasingly diverse tourist needs, which go beyond nature and cultural experiences and extend to health tourism, given Bali’s world-famous hospitality culture, according to Antara News.
He said that the NgoerahSun Wellness and Aesthetic Center building is equipped with medical check-up services, a cosmetic center, an operating theater, a spa of international standards, and a genome sequencing laboratory.
