50 Best Tourism Villages Showcased in Jakarta

The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia again held a prestigious annual event, Indonesian Tourism Village Awards 2024.

The event showcased creative products from the 50 Best Tourism Villages at Car Free Day, Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The various potentials offered by these tourist villages are not only proud, but also able to attract local and foreign tourists to visit various regions in Indonesia.

On this occasion, the Deputy for Destination Development and Infrastructure of the Ministry of Tourism, Hariyanto, directly explored the uniqueness and potential of leading tourist villages, and expressed his appreciation for the increasing number of tourist villages participating in this program.

“The various potentials of this tourist village attract attention, not only for domestic tourists, but also for foreign tourists,” said Hariyanto.

This year, from 6,016 registered tourist villages, the selection was carried out in stages involving 13 independent judges.

The selection process began by screening the 500 best villages, then 300 villages, 100 villages, until finally the 50 Best Tourism Villages 2024 were selected. The assessment is based on tourist attractions, institutions and human resources, resilience, digital technology, and adequate facilities.

The selected tourist villages represent various regions in Indonesia and are invited to appear in the 2024 ADWI Peak Week Display in Jakarta. This event supports national policies for village development that are in line with the Golden Indonesia 2045 plan.

“This is not just a product exhibition, but also a forum for discussion about the role of tourism villages in promoting destinations and creative products, as well as opening up partnership and investment opportunities,” added Hariyanto.

Creative product displays are divided by major islands in Indonesia :

• Java Island: 13 tourist villages

• Sumatra: 12 tourist villages

• Kalimantan: 7 tourist villages

• Sulawesi: 8 tourist villages

• Maluku, Papua, Nusa Tenggara, and Bali: 3, 3, 3, and 1 village, respectively..

Each participant’s tent was also decorated with batik motifs typical of their respective regions, reflecting the richness of Indonesian culture.

Florida Pardosi, Director of Destination Governance of the Ministry of Tourism, stated that the ADWI program has always experienced development from year to year, including in its assessment system.

He also added that next year, this program will continue to be refined and maintained its sustainability through collaboration with various strategic partners, such as Astra, BI, Mandiri, and other SOEs.

In addition to displaying creative products, this event also presents various entertainment and talk shows to entertain visitors.

After the display event, the highlight of the event will continue with the 2024 Indonesian Tourism Village Award Night at the Tanah Airku Theater, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, East Jakarta, in the evening.

The event aims to strengthen competitiveness, increase collaboration, and encourage innovation in the tourism sector, which in turn will support local and national economic development.
