North Bali Airport Project Secures Investment from China


The North Bali Airport project continues to move forward towards a new stage.

PT. BIBU Panji Sakti, as the initiator of the project, announced that they have signed a Head of Agreement (HoA) for the construction with a Chinese construction company, ChangYe Construction Group in Shanghai.

President Director of PT. BIBU Panji Sakti Erwanto Sad Adiatmoko Hariwibowo explained that this HoA is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that had been agreed two weeks earlier at the Indonesia’s Embassy in Beijing.

The signing of the HoA was carried out at the Business Forum held by Indonesia’s Consulate General in Shanghai. The signing was witnessed by the Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, and the Indonesian Consul General in Shanghai, Berlianto Situngkir.

US$ 3 Billion Investment Support

According to AntaraNews, President Director of ChangYe Construction Group Yu Xueze has conveyed his company’s commitment to the construction project of North Bali International Airport in Buleleng.

“The North Bali International Airport project is an extraordinary work that reflects the harmony between culture, nature, and people. We are proud to be part of this initiative that has a global impact,” said Yu Xueze.

The Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, also gave his support, emphasizing that this project is proof of the close relationship between Indonesia and China, especially in development cooperation and strategic investment. PT.

PT. BIBU Panji Sakti revealed that they have received investment fund support of US$ 3 billion to accelerate the construction of this airport.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027, covering three main areas: the Airport, Aero City, and Aerotropolis, a new city that will support the airport area.

PT. BIBU also ensures that the construction of Bandar Aini will not interfere with productive land, settlements, places of worship, or historical sites in Buleleng Regency, by using abrasion restoration methods to restore lost land. Land owned by the community will be leased without changing the ownership status.

Initially Rejected by President Megawati

Previously, the 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri had rejected the International Airport in North Bali, because she was worried that this project would only benefit investors without paying attention to the welfare of local residents.

Ekonomibisnis reports that, Megawati conveyed this while in Bali with PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto.

In the other hand, former Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika said that the construction of North Bali International Airport was like a dream that finally came true. Moreover, President Prabowo has also signaled that the construction of the airport will soon be realized.

Ridwan is one of Indonesia’s top executives with a long and illustrious career in the financial world.
