Fish Products Still Dominate Bali’s Exports

Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported a remarkable surge in Bali’s exports to Vietnam in November 2024, showing an increase of 1,283.38% compared to the previous month.

“This is the highest increase to Vietnam, an increase of 1,283 percent, this is due to an increase in exports in fish, crustacean, and mollusk products,” said Acting Head of BPS Bali, Kadek Agus Wirawan, quoted from BaliBisnis.

Fish, crustaceans, and mollusks led the export increase with the highest export value at US$17.51 million.

Agus Wirawan highlighted that Vietnam has become one of Bali’s primary export destinations, ranking 4th with an export value of US$2.21 million for the month.

The United States continues to lead as Bali’s top export destination with a value of US$15.64 million, followed by China (US$6.09 million), Australia (US$5.83 million), Vietnam, and Japan (each with US$2.12 million).

Exports Surge, Vietnam Leading the Increase

Central Statistic Agency also recorded a significant increase in imports from Vietnam to Bali, which jumped by 5,992%, with cereal products being the first commodity recorded that month.

Although the value of Bali’s exports in November 2024 increased by 2.82% compared to October 2024, on a year-on-year basis, Bali’s exports decreased by 9.28% compared to November 2023.

Kadek Agus Wirawan explained that eight of Bali’s ten main export destination countries experienced an increase in exports compared to the previous month, with Vietnam recording the highest increase.

However, compared to the previous year, the value of exports to several countries has decreased, including Thailand.

“When compared to the record in November 2023 (year-on-year), of the ten main export destinations of Bali, the export value in six main destination countries was recorded to decrease, with the deepest decline recorded in the value of exports to Thailand, which was 35.41%, dominated by a decline in exports of other finished textile products,” Agus Wirawan added.

Cumulative Value of Bali Export

BPS also noted that cumulatively, the value of Bali’s exports of goods abroad for the January-November 2024 was recorded at USD 582.56 million.

It’s an increase of 9.20% compared to the January-November 2023, which was recorded at USD 533.47 million.

The United States is recorded as the largest export share, with 28.10% of the total cumulative value of exports. “The highest increase in cumulative export value was recorded in exports to Singapore, which was 110.22%,” he explained.

Based on the port of loading, he said, the delivery of export goods in Bali Province in November 2024 was mostly carried out through ports outside Bali Province, accounting for 60.03% of the shipments.

The shipment of export goods through ports in East Java was recorded at 58.83%, DKI Jakarta at 0.89%, Central Java at 0.27%, and North Sumatra at 0.05%.

“Meanwhile, shipments of export goods through ports in Bali Province were recorded at 39.97%,” he concluded.
