Bali Tax Revenue in 2024 Reaches USD 1.13 Billion

Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) in Bali managed to record tax revenue of USD 1.13 billion in 2024.

The number is 100.48% of the target set at USD 1.12 billion. This marks the achievement of the fourth consecutive year, with the revenue target met from 2021 to 2024.

According to Mediaindonesia, the Head of the DGT Bali Regional Office, Darmawan, revealed that tax revenue in 2024 increased by 27.11% compared to the previous year.

The highest number came from Income Tax, which reached USD 786.79 million or 101.25% of the target.

Dominated by Income Tax and VAT

2024 tax revenue in Bali is dominated by Income Tax of USD 180.65 million and Final Income Tax of USD 218.45 million.

In addition, domestic Value Added Tax (VAT) also contributed greatly with revenues of USD 310.55 million, and Import VAT reached USD 16.32 million.

Sectors that recorded high growth included Accommodation and Food and Beverage Provision, which grew 57.89%, and Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair, and Car and Motorcycle Maintenance, which increased by 24.50%.

The 5 main sectors that contributed greatly to revenue were Wholesale and Retail Trade, Car and Motorcycle Repair and Maintenance (USD 207.47 million), Finance and Insurance (USD 155.83 million), Accommodation and Food and Beverage Provision (USD 155.33 million), Government Administration and Defense (USD 137.88 million), and Processing Industry (USD 77.79 million).

“Looking at the prospect of tax revenue nationally, the 2025 tax revenue target is set at USD 145.96 million, an increase of 13.91% compared to the 2024 national target,” said Darmawan.

Annual Tax Return Increased

Darmawan also highlighted the growth in taxpayer compliance. With 396,502 Annual Income Tax Returns (SPT), it’s an increase of 2.74% compared to the previous year.

The collected tax revenues are used to support various important sectors such as health, education, social protection, as well as transfers to the regions for programs such as the Village Fund.

Along with the implementation of the Coretax application, which officially takes effect on January 1, 2025, Darmawan revealed that the DGT continues to educate and strengthen services to make it easier for taxpayers. Coretax Helpdesk services have also been opened in all tax offices.

Darmawan also reminded the public to always maintain integrity in interacting with tax officers and avoid gratuities.

“We have been paid, we don’t need to be given anymore. If there are employees who ask for gratuities, report them through the official complaint channel,” he said.

Darmawan reminded taxpayers to always be aware of fraud on behalf of the DGT and do not hesitate to contact the nearest tax office or the number that has been provided to get more information.
