Pelindo has set a target to conduct the soft launch of the Bali Benoa Marina at Benoa Port, Denpasar, Bali, by October 2025. All docking facilities within the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) are expected to become fully operational by September 2026.
According to Pelindo’s Director of Strategy, Prasetyo, the Bali Benoa Marina project marks a significant milestone in the development of Indonesia’s maritime tourism sector. The marina is poised to become the country’s first with full international-standard services.
According to Detikbali, “We are equipping the marina with international-grade facilities, benchmarking against world-class marinas in Monaco, the South of France, and other global locations. Additionally, we will build strategic partnerships and networks with international marinas,” said Prasetyo during the groundbreaking ceremony at Benoa Port on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Prasetyo emphasized the pressing need for internationally compliant marina infrastructure in Indonesia. He noted that many foreign tourists, particularly from Australia, the UK, and other parts of Europe, have shown keen interest in the development of Benoa Port.
In its initial phase, Bali Benoa Marina will be able to accommodate 18 yachts. Upon full completion, the marina is projected to host up to 240 yachts.
The total investment for land infrastructure preparation is estimated at nearly IDR 900 billion. Including basic infrastructure development—such as dredging and support facilities within the BMTH, the investment totals approximately IDR 1.2 trillion from State Capital Investment (PMN) and IDR 1.6 trillion from Pelindo’s internal funds.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa, who attended the groundbreaking, expressed her confidence that Bali Benoa Marina would further elevate Bali’s status in the global tourism landscape.
According to Detik.com, “I believe this marina will reinforce Bali’s position—not only as a cultural and natural destination, but also as a premium maritime hub in Southeast Asia,” said Ni Luh Puspa.
Bali’s Vice Governor, I Nyoman Giri Prasta, stated that the Bali Benoa Marina will serve as a new economic growth center. He emphasized the importance of involving the local community in the project’s development.
“We hope the people of Bali will become true hosts in their own homeland,” he said.
Ni Luh Puspa also highlighted the need to foster quality and sustainable tourism. She stressed that sustainable tourism is not only about economic benefits, but also about preserving the environment and ensuring community involvement.
“Quality tourism can only be achieved through strong collaboration, not only between the government and private sector, but also with local communities. When people feel included, they naturally take part in preserving and enhancing their surroundings,” she concluded.
