Gebogan Parade 2025 at Ulun Danu Beratan

If you’re visiting Bali this July or August, don’t miss this special event. The Parade Gebogan at Ulun Danu Beratan is a must-see. The event takes place at the scenic Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and The Blooms Garden in Bedugul, Bali. This annual tradition blends sacred rituals with community celebration. It creates a spectacle that captivates both locals and tourists.

Parade Gebogan: A Daily Showcase of Balinese Tradition

The 2025 parade will be held daily throughout July and August, alternating venues to match tourist flows. On weekdays, the event happens at the majestic Ulun Danu Beratan Temple. On weekends, performances move to The Blooms Garden, where higher foot traffic is expected.

We’re not talking a quiet village procession here. Organizers are prepping for crowds of 1,700 to 1,800 people per day, especially during holidays like Idul Adha, so get there early if you want the best view.

What’s New in 2025?

In addition to the iconic Gebogan parade—where intricately arranged fruit and flower offerings are carried by women in ceremonial dress, the event may feature special Kecak and Barong dance performances if visitor numbers surge. These traditional Balinese performances are prepared by internal sanggar (art studios) associated with the Ulun Danu Beratan management.

Organizers are also considering longer performance durations and educational exhibits that offer insights into the making of Gebogan, allowing visitors to engage more deeply with the culture and meaning behind the ritual.

Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Cultural Highs

Last year’s parade was such a hit it practically needed crowd control. Around 18 to 20 villages participated in the event, bringing vibrant dance groups, fragmentari (mini-theatrical pieces), and Baleganjur music. Women from the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) groups carried beautifully stacked Gebogan offerings through the temple gates and around the iconic Beji Temple, all while tourists gawk, clap, and frantically clear storage on their phones.

According to reports from NusaBali, the parade in 2024 boosted foreign tourist numbers by up to 30–50%, especially from countries such as India, China, Australia, and parts of Europe. The vibe was festive and heartfelt. It was loud, it was beautiful, and honestly, we’re still not over it.

Parade Gebogan 2025: What to Expect

This year’s parade is expected to be more interactive and diverse, with possible additions such as:

  • Live Kecak and Barong dance shows.
  • Hands-on sessions or demonstrations showing how Gebogan are created.
  • A more structured performance schedule, likely beginning around 12:30–13:00 WITA based on last year’s program.

It’s equal parts spiritual and social, with plenty of space for everyone. From wide-eyed travelers to culture-loving locals, making it an event that’s meaningful as well as mesmerizing.

Tips for Visitors

  • Arrive Early: Crowds form quickly, especially near the Beji Temple for the best photos.
  • Stay Nearby: Consider accommodations in Bedugul, Candikuning, or around Lake Beratan for convenience.
  • Plan Combo Trips: Pair your visit with the nearby Bali Botanical Gardens, Handara Gate, or the Twin Lakes (Buyan and Tamblingan) for a full day experience.
  • Join Local Tours: Some travel agencies offer guided visits that include background explanations, ideal for educational groups.

A Must-See Cultural Event

The Parade Gebogan Ulun Danu Beratan is more than a show, it’s a celebration of life, art, and how beautifully Bali holds onto its traditions. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor to Bali, make sure to include this unforgettable celebration in your itinerary.
