Bali Flood Disaster: 18 Confirmed Dead, Millions in Damages Reported


Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency recorded that as of 6:00 a.m. WITA on Friday morning, the number of victims found dead due to the massive flooding in Bali had reached 18, with five still missing.

“The total number of deaths is 18. 12 from Denpasar City, three from Gianyar Regency, two from Jembrana Regency, and one from Badung Regency,” said I Gede Agung Teja Bhusana Yadnya, Head of the Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency, in Denpasar on Friday morning, 12 September 2025.

Apart from the 18 victims from all over Bali, he said, the joint Search and Rescue team is also still trying to search for missing victims.

Millions in Damage

The floods were most prevalent in the capital of Bali Province, Denpasar, with 81 locations, followed by 15 locations in Gianyar Regency, 12 locations in Badung Regency, 28 locations in Tabanan Regency, 23 locations in Jembrana Regency, and four locations in Karangasem Regency.

Furthermore, the most landslides occurred in Tabanan with 43 locations, the most fallen trees in Tabanan (17 locations), damaged roads in Bangli (2 locations), and collapsed walls in Karangasem (11 locations).

Based on this preliminary report, Agung Teja estimates that the losses from damage to 514 buildings reached IDR 28,915,360,000 (around USD 1.76 million). This figure does not include losses or damage in other areas such as Bangli and Tabanan.

Over the past three days, he continued, the government has also established evacuation posts, and the number of evacuees has gradually decreased as conditions have improved.

The refugee posts currently are in Denpasar with 186 refugees spread across six posts and in Jembrana with 250 refugees spread across two posts.

Previously, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency, Suharyanto, inspected two evacuation sites for flood-affected residents in Denpasar on Thursday, September 11, 2025. During the visit, Suharyanto revealed the current conditions following the flooding, which began on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

According to Suharyanto, based on team observations in the field, the floodwaters have generally receded. The main focus now is searching for missing victims, clearing remaining materials, and draining standing water in the Badung Market basement and several other locations.
