Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has again recorded an increase in the number of foreign visitor arrivals, according to reporting from Berita Bali, who add that from January to August 2025, 4,806,333 foreign tourists arrived, marking a 12.4 percent increase compared to the 4,277,206 arrivals in the same period in 2024.
During the first eight months of 2025, the highest number of foreign tourist arrivals was recorded in July 2025, with 718,991 passengers, or an average of 23,000 passengers per day. August 2025 saw a still-high figure of 703,030.
Berita Bali says that the high number of foreign tourists visiting Bali is common between June and September due to the summer holidays.
Based on nationality, Australia remains the largest contributor of foreign tourist visits with a total of 1,094,194 passengers, growing by 6.3 percent, followed by India with 395,101 passengers, which also increased by 5.5 percent.
Passengers holding Chinese passports were in third place, with 393,825 passengers, a significant increase of 20.6 percent. Meanwhile, tourists from South Korea (246,448 passengers) and the United Kingdom (226,354 passengers) rounded out the top five, with growth of 27.8 percent and 11.6 percent, respectively.
In line with Australia’s market dominance, three of the five busiest international flight routes are to and from Australian cities. From January to August 2025, the highest international flight traffic was recorded on the routes to Singapore (8,543 aircraft movements), Kuala Lumpur (6,940), Perth (4,892), Melbourne (4,031), and Sydney (2,823).
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, said that his party continues to support the passenger growth trend by continuing the phase II revitalization program this year, says Berita Bali.
“We are currently preparing to build a connecting gate between the international and domestic terminals to facilitate transit passengers. We will also expand the corridor area, improve the check-in counter area, build a connecting pier gate for the international terminal, and improve the restrooms in both the domestic and international terminals,” he said in a recent statement in Badung.
He added that the growth in international passengers to Bali shows the increasing optimism of the tourism sector.
“In line with that, we are committed to continuously improving our services and facilities to ensure a more comfortable and memorable passenger experience at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. The most recent example is the implementation of the All Indonesia system, a collaborative effort with Immigration, Customs, and BBKK. We have been implementing it in stages since July 2025. With All Indonesia, the international passenger arrival process is faster and easier,” he concluded.
