It is confirmed that New Year’s Eve 2025–2026 in Bali will be less festive than in previous years. The Government of Denpasar has issued a ban on celebrations with fireworks and music performances.
“Unlike last year, this time there will be no music and fireworks. The essence remains in fostering and preserving art and culture,” said I Wayan Arta, Head of Arts Division at the Denpasar Department of Culture, Wednesday (December 7, 2025).
The policy was taken to maintain empathy toward several regions in Indonesia that are grieving due to natural disasters.
Strict Patrols
Instead of fireworks events and music concerts, the Denpasar City Government will hold art performances in the Catur Muka and the southern side of Puputan Badung. The event is titled “Letting Go of the Sun” and will run from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM on New Year’s Eve.
In addition to the enforced ban, Denpasar’s Civil Service Police Unit will carry out strict patrols from December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026. Patrols will focus on crowded areas such as Puputan Badung Field, Lumintang Field, and Taman Pancing.
Similar to Bali, several local governments in other provinces have also prohibited fireworks events for the same reason. Examples include Jakarta, Surabaya, and Tarakan in North Kalimantan.
Meanwhile, the Riau Islands province has planned to hold lively New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations at two main locations: Batam and Bintan.
The Governor of the Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad, welcomed these year-end events with optimism.
“December is our stage. This packed and festive event calendar is proof of our optimism and hard work to accelerate economic recovery through the tourism sector,” said Ansar Ahmad.
