Speaking at the “MiCE TO MEET YOU 2024: Bali – Where Business Meets Paradise” event on Monday (2/9/24,) at the Black Stone Yacht Club in Benoa, Sandiaga Uno, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, said that Bali once again shows its appeal as a leading MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) destination, according to reporting from Nusa Bali.
The event, initiated by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is not only a business conference, but also an initiative to promote sustainable tourism and local economy through the MICE sector.
Sandiaga Uno emphasized in his speech the importance of making Bali a MICE center that not only focuses on business, but also promotes sustainability and inclusivity. “Bali has everything it takes to become a world-class MICE destination. We are committed to making MICE a catalyst for local economic growth and sustainable tourism,” he said.
Nusa Bali reports that one of the unique perspectives of the event is the emphasis on how MICE can be an integral platform to achieve Indonesia’s economic goals, especially by prioritizing sustainability. Sandiaga highlighted that more than 40 percent of international conventions in Indonesia are currently dominated by the medical, science, and technology sectors, all of which are increasingly oriented towards sustainability.
“Bali is still one of the top destinations for incentive travel in Asia, especially for those seeking authentic cultural experiences and relaxation. However, what is more important is how we can align these activities with sustainability principles,” Sandiaga added.
The “MiCE TO MEET YOU 2024” event is not only filled with dialogues and talk shows, but also with interactive games involving various communities and local business actors, reports Nusa Bali, adding that this is part of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s efforts to ensure that the aspirations of the community and the MICE community can be accommodated in developing Bali as a leading MICE destination.
By involving various stakeholders, such as the Bali Provincial Office, Bali Tourism Board, DPD ASPERAPI Bali, as well as education practitioners and tourism destination managers, this event is expected to strengthen collaboration between sectors in supporting the sustainable MICE industry in Bali, says Nusa Bali.
Interestingly, through this event, the ministry also emphasized that MICE is not only about business, but also about how the industry can contribute positively to the environment and local communities. This is a step forward in Indonesia’s efforts to enter the top 10 countries with the strongest economies in Asia through the tourism and MICE sectors.
