Gianyar Regency Population and Civil Registration Office held a Public Consultation Forum to improve the monitoring and supervision services for foreign nationals in Gianyar Regency.
The Head of Population and Civil Registration Office in Gianyar, I Gusti Ngurah Gede Udayadnya, revealed that Gianyar has become a primary destination for tourism, managing foundations, living, or working.
According to data from Population and Civil Registration Office, there were 5,167 foreigners who hold KITAS (temporary stay permit) in Gianyar Regency in 2024. Out of this number, 3,710 reside in Ubud.
Additionally, 857 foreigners hold KITAP (permanent stay permit), with 427 also residing in Ubud.
Udayadnya noted that the presence of foreigners in Gianyar brings both positive and negative impacts. Therefore, stricter monitoring and supervision are needed to prevent illegal activities and land use that do not comply with regulations.
As reported by Denpost.id, he emphasized, “The government needs to enhance oversight and law enforcement to ensure that all foreigners here operate in accordance with the applicable regulations.”
Regarding the supervision and monitoring, Udayadnya emphasized the importance of strategies such as optimizing foreign nationals monitoring teams, strengthening inter-agency coordination and synergy, as well as cross-sectoral coordination.
He expressed hope that the Public Consultation Forum would allow the community to provide valuable input for improving services related to monitoring and supervision.
According to Nusabali, This Public Consultation Forum involved various parties, including Gianyar Police, Gianyar Inspectorate, Gianyar National Unity and Politics Agency, Gianyar Manpower Office, Gianyar Civil Service Police Unit in Gianyar Regency, Customary Village Council district heads, the Chairperson of the Village Head Forum, academics, practitioners, and experts.
