Consumer Optimism in Bali Remains Strong in August 2026 Amid Normalization of Economic Activity After the School Holiday Period
According to the Consumer Survey by Bank Indonesia’s Bali Representative Office, Bali’s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) stood at 123.1 in August.
This figure is higher than the national CCI of 118.5 and remains in the optimistic zone, as it is above the 100 level.
“Consumer optimism remains strong, especially among households with monthly spending above Rp8 million, Rp6–7 million, and Rp3–4 million. Optimism is also reflected among formal sector workers (128.3) and informal sector workers (116.8),” said Achris Sarwani, Head of Bank Indonesia’s Bali Office, in a press release in Denpasar.
By employment sector, optimism was evident among formal workers with an index of 128.3 and informal workers at 116.8. This sustained optimism is supported by improvements in tourism performance and the continued strength of service sector activities.
Weaker Compared to July
On the other hand, Bali’s CCI of 123.1 in August 2026 was slightly weaker compared to 126.3 in July.
The Consumer Expectation Index also declined, from 130.3 in July to 128.2 in August, down 1.7% month‑to‑month.
The drop was mainly seen in components such as income expectations (127.0), job availability expectations (129.5), and business activity expectations (128.0).
The Current Economic Condition Index also fell in August, recorded at 118.0, compared to 122.3 in July.
In terms of prices, Bali’s inflation in August 2026 stood at 3.45% year‑on‑year, still within the national inflation target range. This condition is considered to have supported household purchasing power and consumer confidence in Bali’s economic outlook.
Looking ahead, Bank Indonesia Bali will continue to strengthen synergy with local government, businesses, and other stakeholders to maintain price stability, reinforce household purchasing power, and drive inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Bali.
