PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airpots) estimates that aircraft passenger traffic will reach 605,000 people per day during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 periods.
For this reason, InJourney Aiports has opened a Christmas and New Year post that will operate from December 18, 2024 to January 15, 2025.
Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s Director of Operations, Wendo Asrul Rose, estimates that the peak of departures will occur on December 20, 2024.
Ngurah Rai Airport Anticipates 83,000 Passengers
Meanwhile, the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, predicted that the airport would serve around 83 thousand passengers at the peak of the Christmas flow.
“The peak of Christmas holiday traffic will occur on December 20, 2024. 489 aircraft movements with a total of 83,635 passengers,” Syaugi said in Badung, Bali, Wednesday, as quoted from AntaraNews.
According to Syaugi, the peak of traffic will occur four times at the end of this year, namely in the flow of tourist arrivals ahead of Christmas on December 20 and after Christmas on December 26, as well as the New Year’s moment on December 29 and January 2, 2025.
The figure in the range of 80 thousand passengers per day is also predicted to occur at three other traffic peaks, namely 81 thousand passengers or 452 aircraft movements on the return flow of Christmas on December 26, 2024.
“Meanwhile, the peak of the New Year holiday is predicted to occur on December 29, reaching 503 aircraft movements and 80,766 passenger movements, and the peak of the return flow will occur on January 2, 2025, which is predicted to be 467 aircraft movements with an estimated 79,957 passenger movements,” he continued.
Requests for Extra Flights
Syaugi added that the figure above is based on provisional data and growth trends from the previous year’s Christmas.
Until now Ngurah Rai Airport has received 449 requests for extra flights from seven airlines, namely 122 flights from Indonesia Air Asia, 88 from Super Air Jet, 87 from Lion Air, 82 from Citilink, 30 from Garuda Indonesia, 22 from Nam Air, and 18 extra flights from Pelita Air.
All extra flights will serve seven domestic flights with the first highest route to Jakarta as many as 265 flights, in second place to Surabaya 76 flights, Makassar 38 flights, Lombok 22 flights, Pontianak 12 flights, and Banjarmasin eight flights.
With a provisional calculation, during the 19 days of the Christmas and New Year 2025 period, Bali Airport will serve 1.3 million passengers with a daily average of 70 thousand passengers both arriving and departing or there is an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period the previous year.
