Bali Governor Wayan Koster was the only Asian governor present at London Climate Action Week, a global forum focused on accelerating climate action on 20-24 June 2026.
The forum featured global leaders such as Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies, and UN Secretary‑General António Guterres.
More than 200 participants joined, including 26 regional heads (eight governors and mayors), policymakers, international institutions, environmental groups, and representatives from the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Bali’s Sustainable Vision
In his remarks, Governor Koster highlighted Bali’s progress under the Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali vision, which integrates sustainability into development through a Planned Universal Development Pattern.
He pointed to several landmark regulations already in place:
1. Bali Governor Regulation No. 45/2019: Bali’s Energy Self-Sufficient Policy with Clean Energy.
2. Bali Governor Regulation No. 48/2019: Use of Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicles.
3. Bali Governor Regulation No. 97/2018: Restricting the Use of Single-Use Plastics.
4. Bali Provincial Regulation No. 8/2019: Organic Farming Systems.
5. Bali Governor Regulation No. 24/2020: Protection of Lakes, Springs, Rivers, and the Sea.
Through these policies, Bali has committed to achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2045 — 15 years ahead of Indonesia’s national target of 2060.
To close the week, Governor Koster joined a dialogue with the Under2 Coalition, where governors, ministers, and regional leaders worked on joint strategies for energy security.
The discussions centered on building affordable clean energy systems as the foundation for sustainable industrial growth worldwide.
