Bali Provincial Government is intensifying economic diplomacy by inviting European investment in the health sector.
Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, together with Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that Bali’s economy should not rely solely on tourism but also diversify into healthcare and other industries.
During a meeting with the Indonesia–Europe Business Forum (IEBF) delegation, he highlighted Bali’s potential to develop thematic hospitals and modern health services that serve local communities while attracting international patients.
Foreign investment is crucial to accelerate healthcare infrastructure, reduce reliance on local budgets, and bring advanced medical technology to Bali.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed its support, stating that Bali’s initiative aligns with Indonesia’s broader strategy of using diplomacy to attract investment and strengthen international partnerships.
European representatives have expressed strong interest, particularly in supplying medical equipment and collaborating with Bali hospitals.
Several exploratory visits have already taken place to assess needs and identify forms of cooperation. Governor Koster concluded that Bali’s economic diplomacy will continue to expand beyond tourism, positioning the island as a hub for healthcare, creative industries, and sustainable investment.
