Tempo are reporting that Sandiaga Uno, Indonesia’s Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, launched 100 Nusantara Travel Packages dubbed ‘Pak Wisnu’ for domestic tourists during the Christmas and New Year holidays. He explained that each regional government suggests three recommendations for their best tour packages.
“I want to use this opportunity to increase the movement of Indonesian tourists with a target of 1.2 to 1.4-billion trips,” said Sandiaga in The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno on Monday, December 6, 2022, report Tempo.
The ministry carried out a simulation regarding the movement of domestic tourists, Sandiaga said. The results showed that nearly 80-percent of tourists are centered in Java, especially Central Java.
He believed that the program will drive local economies and support economic recovery, particularly in the tourism sector. He also hoped that the tour packages will encourage Indonesians to travel domestically instead of abroad.
“Hopefully, people are interested to choose this Pak Wisnu instead of traveling abroad during the Christmas and New Year holidays,” said Sandiaga. The tour packages can be accessed via the indonesia.travel tourism site.
