According to local and regional newswires, including Kompas, the government has lifted the mandatory health protocol regulations related to the use of masks and vaccination implementation as of Friday (9/6/2023.)
The regulation on the removal of mask usage is stated in Circular Letter of the Task Force for Handling Covid-19 Number 1 of 2023 concerning Health Protocols during the Transition Period of the Covid-19 Endemic and signed by Lt. Gen. TNI Suharyanto, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency and Head of the COVID-19 Task Force.
This new regulation revokes Circular Letter No. 24/2022 regarding Domestic Travelers, Circular Letter No. 25/2022 regarding International Travelers, Circular Letter No. 20/2022 regarding Large-scale Activities, and Circular Letter No. 19/2021 regarding Task Force in Public Facilities.
Kompas are reporting that Covid-19 Handling Task Force data states that positive cases of Covid-19 have decreased since the beginning of 2023 until now. From January 1st to June 8th 2023, there has been a 31-precent decrease in positive cases and the average percentage of death cases has also decreased by 43-percent.
In lifting health protocol regulations, the Circular Letter advises to continue to use a mask should you feel unwell or at risk of Covid-19, before and when traveling, when in public facilities and to maintain distance or avoid crowds of people to prevent any transmission, but it is no longer mandatory if you are in good health.
It is also recommended to keep using the SATUSEHAT application to monitor personal health.
