Following the recent G20 Summit in Bali, President Jokowi heads to Bangkok, Thailand today to take part in the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, report Tempo.
“Yes, it’s true (Jokowi went to Thailand for the APEC Summit),” said Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin when contacted by Tempo, Thursday, November 17, 2022.
Jokowi will depart for Thailand from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali at around 12.05 local time. Bey did not explain which parties were part of Jokowi’s entourage to Thailand.
Tempo say that The APEC Summit will be on November 18 and 19, 2022 and is the leading forum in Asia-Pacific consisting of 21-countries. The aim of this forum is to facilitate trade and investment, economic growth, and regional cooperation.
The theme set by Thailand as chair of APEC this year is economic rehabilitation after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi explained that President Jokowi would hold a number of bilateral meetings in Bangkok later. The meeting was held with countries that had not yet had the chance to have a bilateral meeting with Jokowi at the G20 Summit .
“Because some of the leaders will also fly to Bangkok to attend the APEC Summit,” Retno said.
