IndoBaliNews are reporting that Cathay Pacific airlines have returned to serving the Hong Kong – Denpasar – Hong Kong route every day, with the inaugural flight from Hong Kong landing in Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Sunday 27 November 2022.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, Handy Heryudhitiawan, said that with this latest flight the airport is now serving 24-international routes in total with 27-airlines.
Handy said the return of Cathay Pacific would have a significant impact on tourism on the island of Bali.
“This is a strong signal for the rise of tourism on the island of Bali, considering that Hong Kong was one of the routes that was quite busy before the pandemic. In 2019, we served 671,168-travelers from Hong Kong in total,” he said.
The inaugural flight from Hong Kong landed in Bali with 178-passengers and returned to Hong Kong with 132-passengers.
“Cathay Pacific will serve flights every day. Of course, this operation will further add to the connectivity of Bali Island to regions in the People’s Republic of China, apart from Taipei which is now being served again,” said Handy.
“As additional information, as of November 26, 2022 we have served 3,699,665-international passengers,” he added.
He hopes that the opening of the Hong Kong – Denpasar – Hong Kong route will further enliven air traffic on the Island of the Gods ahead of the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year periods.
