Local newswire, Nusa Bali are reporting that the Ombudswoman of Bali, Ni Nyoman Sri Widhiyanti has announced her office’s eagerness to receive complaints from foreigners regarding misconduct of public services including unlawful bureaucracy conducted by staff and officials as well as local government regulations.
Sri explained that only foreigners that hold residence permits including a limited residence permit (KITAS) or permanent residence permit (KITAP) can file reports to ensure and verify the complaints are valid. She also stressed whistleblowers will be kept secret and secure, report Nusa Bali.
“We have received a few reports and complaints around healthcare, licensing, and the services that they bump into on a daily basis,” Sri added.
She could not elaborate further on the specific number of reports received, adding that some complaints desired monetary compensation instead of enhancing services, which she explained was because foreigners expect the mechanism to be the same as in their home countries. “That’s not how it works here, there is no article rule like that,” she said.
