According to reporting from Tempo, Bali has been named Asia’s Most Romantic Destination at the 2024 World Travel Awards held in Manila, Philippines, on September 3, 2024, beating Thailand’s Koh Samui and Cambodia’s Siem Reap to win the award for six consecutive years since 2019.
Bali offers various couple-appropriate spots. Citing Indonesia.travel, some of the most romantic activities in Bali include strolling around marigold flower gardens in villages such as Belok in Badung, Bangli in Tabanan, Temukus in Karangasem, and Banjarangkan in Klungkung.
Couples can also opt for cycling in Jatiluwih as a simple but romantic way to spend time on the island. While enjoying the stunning and magnificent views of the hills and terraced rice fields, couples are welcome to interact with the locals to immerse in the Balinese culture.
Tempo reports that those seeking a romantic gateway in Bali can also try boating on Lake Beratan in Candikuning, Tabanan. Couples can paddle the boat in the early morning waiting for the sun to rise from behind Ulun Danu Temple.
Bali also houses a plethora of romantic hotels and resorts. But, if you want something unique, try staying at Firefly Eco Lodge. Notable as one of the romantic honeymoon spots in Bali, this cottage is located in Ubud, Gianyar.
Couples can book a room shaped like a bird’s nest, climb to bed with a bamboo ladder, and enjoy the dazzling view of the beautiful green terraces from a height.
In addition to Asia’s Most Romantic Destination, Tempo says that Bali also won the Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination award from 2019 to 2023. In 2014, Bali won the World’s Leading Island Destination and Asia/Pacific’s Leading Destination in 1998 and 1999.
