Data Centre Dynamics (DCN) are reporting that The Amerta Bali Lestari Foundation’s INZET unit has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sustainability Economics for clean energy-powered AI data centers in Bali.
Sustainability Economics, headquartered in the US and Singapore, provides net zero solutions for customers in high-emitting sectors, and is currently exploring ways to combine clean energy power with AI cloud data centers.
INZET, a not-for-profit and advisor to the government of Bali will help smooth the implementation of projects in the province, with the MoU aiming to create a framework for collaboration between the two for assisting with Bali’s transition to Net Zero.
DCN cite Venkata Reddy Kasu, CEO and co-founder of Sustainability Economics, as saying “Our focus will be on accelerating the energy transition by integrating clean energy development with innovative AI-powered cloud data centers. Together with INZET, we are dedicated to driving impactful change that not only advances Bali’s sustainability goals but also sets an example for global efforts toward a sustainable future.”
Ida-Bagus Kesawa Narayana, chairman of INZET added: “Bali has set an ambitious vision to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, ahead of the Indonesian central government’s target. A key challenge in this transformation is ensuring that sustainability initiatives are not only environmentally impactful but also financially viable, reports DCN.
“Our expertise lies in integrating cutting-edge clean energy solutions, advanced technology, and AI-driven data centers to create a unique and innovative approach. This blend of competencies ensures that the transition to sustainability is both achievable and profitable.”
Sustainability Economics will help Bali transition from fossil fuels and scale the availability of clean energy solutions including solar, wind, batteries, biomass, thermal, nuclear, and hydrogen, through feasibility studies, infrastructure development, and attracting and raising investment in clean energy technologies.
Currently Bali does not have a significant data center market. DataCenterMap lists four data centers in the province operated by Indonesia Super Corridor, Cyber Network Indonesia, Nusantara Data Center, and neuCentrlX. Much of Indonesia’s data center industry is located around the capital city Jakarta, according to DCN.
