Indonesia Welcomes International Tourists in Early 2025

Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism is focusing on welcoming foreign tourists entering the country through three main entrances by early 2025.

These entrances include Jakarta, Bali, and the Riau Islands. The welcoming event which was held on the first day of 2025 was carried out in collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), and the local government.

The purpose of this event is to introduce Indonesia as a tourist destination that welcomes the arrival of international tourists and encourage the tourism sector to grow post-pandemic.

According to a press release released by the Ministry of Tourism in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, one of the series of welcome events was held at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.

Ni Made Ayu Marthini as Acting Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism, welcome the first international tourists arriving in Bali in 2025. The tourists came using Garuda Indonesia aircraft from Melbourne, Australia.

“The Ministry of Tourism invites all Indonesian people to participate in supporting sustainable tourism by maintaining cleanliness, friendliness, and cultural diversity as the main attractions for foreign tourists,” said Ni Made Ayu Marthini.

Focuses on Bali, Jakarta, and the Riau Islands

On this occasion, Ni Made Ayu Marthini cited data from Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency  which showed that during the period from January to October 2024, foreign tourist visits to Bali had reached around 5.3 million people.

Among international tourists visiting Bali in October 2024, the majority are from Australia, with a total of 141,395 people. Other countries that also contributed a lot of tourists to Bali that month were India with 43,537 tourists, China (33,645), France (28,018), and the United Kingdom (26,498).

Ni Made Ayu Marthini also revealed that the percentage of Australian tourist visits to Bali increased significantly. In 2024, around 25.25 percent of tourists who come to Bali are from Australia, this figure is much higher compared to 12.45 percent in the same period the previous year.

This increase in the number of Australian tourists shows that Bali remains one of the top tourist destinations for international travelers, especially from Asia Pacific countries.

Restoring Tourism Sector

In addition to Bali, a welcome event was also held at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, to welcome foreign tourists arriving through the airport.

The first tourists arriving in early 2025 through Soekarno-Hatta Airport will use All Nippon Airways (ANA) aircraft coming from Haneda, Japan.

In addition, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa also welcomed the first foreign tourists to enter Indonesia through the Bandar Bentan Telani Port in Lagoi, Bintan, Riau Islands.

Together with local government officials and related stakeholders, Ni Luh Puspa welcomed the arrival of tourists from Singapore who arrived through the port.

This welcoming of tourists shows Indonesia’s commitment to restoring the tourism sector and opening the door for international tourist visits, especially in early 2025.
