On the other hand, lotus cake production has also experienced a surge in demand. Ni Wayan Raba, the owner of a lotus cake production house in Denpasar, mentioning that since January 25, they have used 40 kg of flour to make hundreds of cake packages.

“We already made almost 40 kg, but we’re still working on it. Yesterday we had the most orders. I’m not sure about today. Since tomorrow it’s already Chinese New Year, we might make some but not too much.” Wayan Raba explained as quoted from Antara Bali.

One dough is able to produce more than 130 pieces of cake or 13 packs if it has been packaged in the form of a lotus.

Usually, Chinese residents in Bali use lotus cakes or shian tou as offerings at the peak of Chinese New Year worship. After that, the cake will be consumed with the family.
